We are considering doing the Stoos ridge hike. We are looking for affordable hotels in the area that are close to the funicular and lifts to the trail. We are both in our 60's and don't want a hostel. I feel Lucerne is too far away and will take time away from the days excursion.

I have not done the hike myself (vertigo and acrophobia), and I do not quite understand the topography and the relations between the funicular and the trails. I did have a look on Google maps and saw hotels in nearby Brennen, Morschach, Schwyz, and up at Stoos. But I have no idea what would work best with your planned hike.
