Wondering if anyone has ever flown to Zurich from the states with a layover in Toronto? I would like to know how much time I should plan on, in order to make my connecting flight to ZUR? Do I need to go thru any customs or immigration or security, if my layover is less than 5 hrs? I'm buying an AA ticket that uses Air Canada to get to Zurich. Thanks for any insight on this

If it is a single ticket then the airline has figured out how much time is needed

Airlines would not allow a reservation with insufficient connection time. Coming in from the US and connecting to a European flight, you should not need to clear Immigration if you are on a US passport, are on a single ticket, and have no need to leave the secure area. You may need to go through security.

The time we went through Toronto, there was an expedited immigration check for transiting passengers. I think the airport website might have more definitive info.
