Hi there! Does anyone know how many stairs there are at the Stechelberg station to get to the gondola for Gimmelwald? Thanks for your time! I am so excited to to get there! Is there an elevator to get up those stairs?
I found an Image of the steps at the Stechelberg station

Thank you so much for that photo. I so appreciate it. I am only carrying 20 pounds, I am sure someone will assist me if needed. Thanks again
There's got to be an elevator as well because I have seen locals taking carts of supplies on the cable car.
That is a relief. Thank you so much!!
rox,
From what I remember, there were quite a few stairs from ground level to the cable car entrance in Stechelberg. I'm sure they have an elevator (probably a very large one) as I've shared the car with concrete hoppers and construction supplies.
That is great news !!! The last concern of mine has been wiped away by the image of concrete!! You're the best !!!!
Thank you, truly. Nice to hear from you. I think you have replied to a previous question and concern I had. Thank you
I would think they have an elevator as well.
Thank you. It reinforces a worry free journey
There is an elevator. I have seen it. Check before going to make sure it is in working order. If not, you could take the gondola at Lauterbrunnen, then train to Murren. Catch an electric shuttle to the gondola and then go down to Gimmelwald.
One of the folks in my GAS tour couldn't do the stairs and she found the elevator. It is not obvious so you may need to ask.
And yes, you may be on the gondola with building materials, a wheelbarrow, big power tools...any number of things that can't easily go up steps!
Great news. Thanks ever so much for taking the time to reply. Even with the 20 lb. imposed luggage limit I adopted from Rick Steves, there are quite a few stairs. I feel so much lighter now in my mind. All of you folks have done me a tremendous service. This was my final concern for the trip which has now melted away. I am ready to create great memories !!!
There is an elevator. It’s in the area underneath where the cable car docks at the station. The stairs are on the side 180 degrees opposite or where the gondola would end up if it continued down to street level. This video gives you an idea of where it is.
Hello Rocket, The Rick Steves Forum has the finest folks. I am totally prepared now. This is great. I know exactly where to go and what to expect. So good of you to give the video link
