Stanserhorn is free with the STP.

Rigi is also free with the STP. You could do Rigi in the morning, and see the sunset at Stanserhorn. Stanserhorn doesn't take as long to visit. Have a great trip!

It is a short train ride from Pilatus train station to Stans that both may be done in a summer day.

Pilatus is only discounted with the STP, it is not fully covered. Enjoy this beautiful country!

I hope it's okay to jump in here since I've been wondering about the same thing and my question might be helpful to the OP as well. I'll be coming from Wengen and have only 2 nights in Lucerne. It was my plan to get settled in Lucerne, then do Stansherhorn in the afternoon and visit Rigi the next day and maybe hike a bit. Would it make more sense to do Rigi the afternoon of my arrival, then both Pilatus and Stanserhorn the next day? I'll also have the STP, but don't mind paying for Pilatus. I'm more worried about having enough time so I don't have to rush rather than enjoy. Thanks

KRS, Either way will work.
One of the many great things about Switzerland is that tickets for any of these mountain excursions do not need to be purchased in advance. So, wait until you are in Switzerland and then decide what you want to do depending on the weather and how you are feeling.
Rigi is my favorite, having been 3 times and soon to be 4 times. I also like Stanserhorn and Titlis. I have yet to visit Pilatus. It just doesn’t appeal to me for some reason. Perhaps I’ll finally get to it in Sept. when I’m back in Lucerne.
Also, don’t skip the city wall and towers if you have time.
