Would appreciate recommendations for a Spiez accommodation for my wife and myself. Musts would be centrally located, air conditioned rooms and elevator to upper floors. High wants would be a 3 star facility and a room with a lake view.

Have you looked on booking.com or AirBnB?
Air Con may be hard to come by. What time of year are you travelling? Will you have a car, or using public transit?
I see only Hotel Eden Spiez with AC (often tepid at best).
Sorry, no personal experience staying in Spiez.

I stayed in an apartment in Spiez. The problem with that town is that there is no such thing as "centrally located." There are two parts to the town: the harbor area and the upper town. I stayed in the upper town and had a lake view, but restaurants were a long walk below me, which meant uphill on the way back.
Perhaps someone will chime in with better news.
