Snowshoeing in Wengen in March

Hello,
I would like to know if the trails for snowshoeing - and tobogganing- in Wengen are open to the public or if we need to buy tickets to use them.

Are snow conditions pretty much the same in Wengen and Murren? I will be there mid-March.

Thanks for your help.

Fyi-
You are in the Trip Reviews section- you'll probably have better response if you post in the appropriate area.
Have a great trip!

Good point, thanks.
I'll come back to give an update and review in April then.
Cheers

Have you looked at the weather in the Alps this year. There are resorts that have already written the season off and shut down. I would seriously contact the TI and get a reading on how they expect things to play out.

I would not worry too much about snow cover. There was very little over the new year, but snow has fallen since, and more is on the way. Right now, it it still very thin, with only a handful of open tobogganing trails, but snow depths are typically at their highest in Mid-March!

And if there isn't enough snow for tobogganing or snowshoeing, then winter hiking becomes an option.

Regarding your original question: the trails are free. You pay for the lifts - there is a pedestrian lift pass for tobogganers/walkers. And you will want to use them! It is probably a 3 hour walk from Wengen to Kleine Scheidegg...
Mürren is higher but it is south facing, so no better for snow. And it has far fewer trails for the activities you seek: I would stick with the Wengen-Grindelwald area.

Thank you all. Coincidentally an article on the lack of snow in the Alps popped up in my local paper today. It is reassuring to hear that things could easily change by mid-March, and of course regular shoeing is always a beautiful thing.
