Snow conditions in Bernese Oberland

Hello,
I will be traveling to Wengen or Murren in mid-March and am hoping to try snowshoeing. I have heard the trails may be closed by then due to lack of snow. Has anybody done this before? Are snow condition pretty much the same in Wengen and Murren?

Are the trails for snowshoeing - and tobogganing- in Wengen open to the public or do we need to buy tickets to use them.

Thanks for your help.

How much snow there will be in March we will see in March. There is no way to predict it. There have been years where March was still winter, and others where it was already spring up in Wengen and Mürren. This winter is a bit different, with warm periods alternating with cold.

The trails are all open to the public. You only pay for transportation, so if you for example want to sled down from Kleine Scheidegg to Wengen you will need to buy a ticket for the train. There also exists a "hiking and sledding pass" that gives you access to all the trains and lifts that are accessible to pedestrians.

And then you also may have to rent equipment. All sports shops do this.

Thank you, that's very helpful. I'll hope for snow and be very happy to see the first flowers of Spring if that's the way the weather works out this year.
