Any suggestions on where to stay in Lausanne? We will be there for 4 nights? The reviews on Rick Steve's suggestions and those in trip advisor are mixed. Any helpful suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

I stayed at http://www.elite-lausanne.ch/en/ in Lausanne and was very pleased with the accommodations, and would certainly recommend it. It's in a great location within easy walking distance from the station and also close to the Metro that goes between Ouchy and the upper parts of the city.

I stayed at the Hotel Regina listed in Rick's book: http://www.hotel-regina.ch/en. I got a better rate and room availability by e-mailing them directly, instead of trying to book on their website.
If you want posh, it won't suit, but it was perfectly comfortable, and the price was right (for Switzerland). Do follow Rick's instructions on getting there from the train station.
