Hi, everyone! I'm going on a Rick Steves Tour of Switzerland in June/July. I'm guessing it's a no-no to wear shorts in churches, but what about museums, etc.? Thanks, Tim.
We were in Switzerland last August where it was very warm and muggy. We saw lots of shorts being worn by people of all ages (the short-shorts on the younger). That being said, it’s always respectful to dress modestly when visiting churches.
Not a problem at all!
Even visiting churches should be OK with shorts that aren't, um, vulgar. No tank tops, though.
Italy is more uptight about exposed knees.
I wore shorts in the history museum in Lucerne 2 weeks ago. Didn't enter a church though so I'm not sure about that.
While in Switzerland, I wore shorts that hit just at the knee in both churches and museums, and had no issues.
