We will be staying at an Airbnb in a village called Sigriswil which seems to be near Lake Thun. We will be there April 26-30. I chose to stay here because I thought it may be convenient for us to take the train from there to Interlaken and the villages nearby it and to use it as a place to take the train elsewhere. If anyone has stayed in Sigriswil and has experiences or recommendations, I would enjoy hearing them. Thanks.
There is no train station in Sigriswil. And depending on where in the village you are staying you may find out that public transit is not so convenient.
You can use www.sbb.ch to find out how the public transport connections to/from your accommodation are. The trip planner on that site can plan down to the street address. So just use the address of your accommodation as start or end point, and it will figure out for you how the travel will work.
Thanks. I assume there is a bus station.
Yes, there are bus stops (not stations) but look at where you are. Again, use www.sbb.ch to plan from your accommodation. You will notice that it may not be as convenient as you believe...
there are no trains on that side of the lake.
There is a boat which goes over to Spiez, near the castle, but it is a good pull up to the Spiez station.
You may find, especially as Sigriswil is very steep, that you are more isolated than you had hoped.
There is also a train station in Thun, which is closer to Sigriswil by bus than Interlaken. It's a fun place to visit as well. There is a boat tour around the lake for a scenic trip. You can travel a short distance by boat, then switch to the bus.
All the best,
Raymond
