Side trips from Switzerland

My husband & I have been returning to Switzerland for quite a few years, we just love the Berner Oberland area, especially Murren & Wengen. Every trip, we also try to go somewhere different. Last year was Colmar & Strasbourg France . Other side trips have been Amsterdam, Lake Como area. We’ve been to other areas of Switzerland such as Appenzell, Lugano, Bern.
We go the first 2 weeks of September. Would welcome suggestions for new places !

Have you been to Pontessina and ridden the Bernini Express route?

For geographic variety, since you’ve gone west (France) and south (Italy), how about east (Austria) or north (Germany)?

Years ago, we combined Austria and Switzerland, including biking along the Danube River.

My first trip to Switzerland, we were centred in St Gallen (visiting family) and our daytrips were Neuschwanstein Castle in Germany, lunch in Liechtenstein, and a few days skiing in Austria

High on my list is Annecy, which is close to Geneva

There's so much to do on the Italian side too

Did you visit the French cantons around Lake Geneva? The Swiss Riviera and the UNESCO Lavaux wine region are just amazing.

What about Chamonix, France? I’m going to combine that with my Switzerland trip next June.

Did you see Lake Constance/the Bodensee the year you went to Appenzell? That's a beautiful area.
