Short trip suggestion

Hello,

I am travelling from India in Switzerland and I am lost on how to plan my Switzerland part of the trip. We will be leaving Nice, France on 29th September and have a return flight from Zurich on 2nd October afternoon.

I need help on how to book the cheapest tickets from Nice to Switzerland and given such a short time what are the places I should explore? I was thinking of Mt Pilatus and Mt Riga from Lucerne but again am lost on which train passes to book and accommodation options. Please help.

You might benefit from a Half Fare Card. That will give you a 50% discount on trains and lifts, such as the lifts to Mt. Pilatus and Mt. Rigi. Book your train from Nice to the first town across the Swiss border, then book the leg(s) within Switzerland using at the half fare. You can do all of this at www.sbb.ch.

You might think about flying from Nice to Zurich, as you don't have a long time. It is at least 8 1/2 hours on the train from Nice to Luzern. Swiss Air has 4 flights a day to Zurich for 113 EUR pp. From Zurich airport there are frequent trains to Luzern that take just over an hour. That way you could be in Luzern shortly after noon if you take a 10 am flight from Nice. You can stay there 3 nights, then take a direct train to Zurich airport to fly home. Go to www.booking.com to investigate places to stay and what costs will be. Switzerland is expensive, but that will give you an idea of what you get for your money.
