Short hikes around Montreux

I am going to Switzerland in July with family. I enjoy hiking- the family does not. I am trying to figure out if there are some short (2-3 hr) hikes that I could do on my own that wouldn’t take me away from the group for a whole day. Logistically, the best time to do this would be a 5 day stretch when we are staying in Montreux.

Does anyone have suggestions for shorter, easily accessible hikes from that area?

Thank you!

You should look into walking in the vineyards. These are a few short walks I have noted for my upcoming June trip:

St. Saphorin to Chexbres (1 hour)

St. Saphorin to Vevey (1.2 hour)

St. Saphorin to Rivaz (40 mins)

You can also do longer walks in the vineyards. Info here:

Your family might enjoy the ride up to Rochers de Naye. They could hang out at one of the restaurants while you do some walking around the area. You all might enjoy the botanical garden up there.

Some more info on hiking in the area:

The 11 km flowered lakeside promenade looks like a great place to walk too.

I just wanted to add some links to some videos you might find helpful.

Montreux old town:

Also, you mentioned you will be staying in Montreux for 5 days. Sion might be a good day trip for you and your family. Your family could stay in the town while you walk up to the castles.

The first part of this video shows the town of Sion. If you fast forward to about the 1 hour mark, it shows the church and castle.

Not exactly a hike, but as long as mobility issues aren't involved, you can probably convince the family to come with you and walk over to Chateau de Chillon, on the flat lakefront.
Otherwise, besides the lovely Lavaux vineyards and Rochers de Naye that Carrie rightfully pointed out, Mont Pèlerin, accessed from the top of the funicular of the same name above Vevey, is a good short hike with great views!

I have 5 nights in Montreux at the beginning of June. I’ll be doing a trip report. Montreux doesn’t get a lot of love from the RS forum, but I have researched the area and have so many great things planned. I’m looking forward to it.
