Shoe wear for hiking in Switzerland

Hello, planning to be in Switzerland in early June. Want to do some hiking such as the North Face/flower trail around Murren as well as the Eiger trail on the other side of the valley. Do I need to bring my heavy hiking boots or will comfortable sneakers be ok. Never been before so I am not sure if there is still snow on the ground or how wet it might be. If not needed that will help with traveling light. Thanks

Sneakers are never a good option for hiking however you also don't need to bring heavy hiking boots either. A decent pair of hiking shoes or even trail running shoes that are lighter but also retain good traction would be more appropriate.

I would add to what JC recommended that water resistant is a good idea. Trails can be wet, especially if there is still snow melt.

Invest in Keen low cut Targhee hiking shoes.

Wear mine in LA and London. I travel often to London in November. Take these lace ups and the Keen leather slip on.

Keens are expensive but oh so durable.

From a recommendation on this forum, I bought Oboz shoes before my August trip to Switzerland this year. They're low cut, fairly light weight and comfortable for me. Heavy hiking boots were certainly not needed.

Edited to add: I always spray my shoes with Cadillac waterproof shoe spray before travel.
