When I was in Wengen last fall, I talked with a woman from London who had arranged to have her luggage shipped all the way to her hotel in Wengen, thus avoiding having to schlep it up/down all the train transfers from Zurich. I'd like to know how to do this. Does anyone know if it's possible from the states, and if so do we do it through our airline (in our case, Delta/KLM) or is some other arrangement required?
I don't know about Wengen but there is a service at Heathrow for addresses in London called AirportR. It might be worth looking into (or variations on it.) It's website is https://airportr.com/?utm_source=New+Customers+25%25+Unbounce&utm_campaign=6ddb513f0a-New+Customers+Homepage+Unbounce&utm_medium=email&utm_term=0_21feaa231d-6ddb513f0a-302235829 I have NOT used this service but I am considering using it. Hope this helps. Have you googled "Sending luggage to Wengen" or some such? I know shipping overseas or back is extremely expensive but if you have the funds... Best to you. :)
Maybe that's what she did, but it sounded as though she had arranged it through her airline. Thanks for the link but as I am flying to Zurich from Amsterdam, I don't think it's a resource for me.
Met another British person who travels to the Berner Oberland each year, and she also did a luggage transfer to her final destination in Lauterbrennen-- I thought she said it was arranged through the railroad. SBB.ch has a section under "services" about "airport luggage"
Great, Laura, I'll check. That would be convenient as the train station is just across the street from the Zurich airport luggage pickup if I'm remembering correctly. Thanks!
Here's the page from Swiss Rail with all the details: https://www.sbb.ch/en/station-services/services/luggage-and-flight-luggage.html
Excellent1 Thanks, Harold.
Thanks to all of you, I've gone to the Rail Europe/SBB link for Express Luggage in Switzerland and found that they do transport luggage from train stations for a reasonable fee. But I'm having trouble finding out how to do it. I can't tell if a reservation is required or if I can just go to the train station at the Zurich Airport and get it sent to my hotel in Wengen. I would prefer to do that but don't know (a) if I can and (b) where to go in the station to get it done. Can somebody read this site better than we can and help us figure out the logistics of doing this?
You just need to work through the pages on Harold's link for Express luggage. You land here:
It says you hand it to the Express luggage desk by 9 am in Zurich ( main station) and it will arrive at the station in Wengen by 6 pm the same day.
I believe you must pick it up at the station---I do not see a delivery option, but maybe your hotel will pick it up for you.
Here is a map of the Zurich main station:
https://www.sbb.ch/content/dam/infrastruktur/trafimage/bahnhofplaene/plan-zuerich-hb-a4.pdf
It looks like it might be 203, which is labeled theGepäckschalter ( luggage counter) and also where you can rent a bike. Or you could ask at the nearby info center ( also labeled).
But will you arrive before 9 am?
Lola, This is very helpful, thanks. But I won't arrive before 9am, not until 4:45. I was hoping to drop my luggage at that time for delivery the next day. So I really need to contact someone in the office to see if it's possible to do it this late in the day for next day delivery. I don't see an email address in the link, however.
Try the "contact" link on the sbb.ch homepage. I have always received a response when I have emailed them that way.
Excellent!
Lola, I'm feeling like an idiot! Went to sub.ch homepage and could NOT find a way to contact them. I also live in Seattle; which neighborhood are you in? I'll buy you a coffee if you can meet and SHOW me how to do this embarrassingly simple thing.

That is anime offer but I actuallylivenoutside Seattle and do not make it into town very often. But InthinkmIncan explain it. SBB has changed their website and it is not user-friendly nor intuitive. I had to search pretty hard to find the contact button---it is not at upper left as it used to be.
I am on a Mac laptop but hopefully it works the same on PC's. Scroll clear down to the grey box that covers the whole bottom of the homepage. (I am using the English version, which you can reach directly at www.rail.ch).
Over on the left, in faint prime, younwill see "Contact" and below that a dark box that says "Please Choose". Click that to open a drop-down menu. Younwill have to choose a topic and yours doesn't really any of the ones given. I see two options that will get you to the message center.
Choose "timetable" (since your question involves timing of the luggage drop off, a bit of a stretch). You will see a link to the timetables, and well below that, a link to the online question form. You have to press another button to bring up the actual contact form.
A more direct way is to choose "traveling with a handicap" (more luggage than you want to lug to Wengen). Then choose "travel preparation" ,scroll past the picture, and look over on the right: there is a link to email them, which should connect to your computer's email system. If it doesn't, or if you feel uncomfortable claiming a handicap, you can always go back to the first method.
Lola, SO nice of you to go provide all these details! I will follow them to a tee and hope to find my way. Thanks so much. Betty
I followed Lola's directions and got to this online form: http://www.dml.sbb.ch/content/sbb/en/desktop/meta/kontakt.accitm.fahrplan.html
Harold, This is terrific--thanks!
