Seeking ideas for April 2022 trip

Hello! This is my first time planning a trip to Switzerland with my family. Two adults and two teenagers. One teenager has to fly back early by herself, which is why we have to come back to Zurich in the middle of the trip.

I'd love feedback on this itinerary, and answers to these questions:

  • Any suggestions for a hotel in Lucern? Murren?
  • How should we spend days 8-10?
  • Any suggestions for an airport hotel in Zurich?

Day 1: Wednesday, 4/13: Depart from US
Day 2: Thursday, 4/14: Arrive in Zurich in am. Train to Lucern to meet family member. Sleep in Lucerne.
Day 3: Friday 4/15. Lucerne. Sleep on top of Mt Pilatus.
Day 4: Saturday 4/16. Train to Murren. Sleep in Murren
Day 5: Sunday 4/17 [Easter]: Murren
Day 6: Monday 4/18: Murren
Day 7. Tuesday, 4/19: Train to Zurich. Sleep in Zurich.
Day 8: Wednesday, 4/20: Daughter's flight leaves Zurich at 8am.
Day 9: Thursday, 4/21.
Day 10: Friday, 4/22: Back to Zurich. Sleep near Zurich airport.
Day 11: Saturday, 4/23: Flight leaves Zurich

Is this trip for this year or next?

Check out Switzerland here on the Forum. There's been significant discussion in the last few months regarding your exact questions. Also do a SEARCH here, and find a RS Guidebook.

I'd also suggest going to Montreux / Lausanne after your first jaunt to Zurich, and exploring that part of this beautiful country.

Zurich Old Town is only a ten minute ride to the airport, so I'd staying in the historical area.

Safe travels!

JUST EDITED- I missed the 2022 in your title-sorry. I was just alarmed at the late date and your not having hotels yet. Much luck!!! Let us know how it goes.

An airport hotel in Zurich that I would recommend is the Radisson Blu Hotel Zurich Airport. Since your daughter's flight leaves at 8 am that is ideal. You can walk from the Radisson right into the airport. We stayed there before an early morning flight and it worked well. There is a restaurant right at the hotel, and we also ate within the airport. It was easy to take the train to and from Zurich Flughafen. We were there the afternoon before our flight and bought a 24 hour train pass to go to Zurich HB and enjoy a little time in Zurich as well.
