Search feature

First time to this website. Is there a search feature that I am not seeing? Or do I need to look at all 200 pages to look for my potential answer? I will be taking a Regional Train instead of the Glacier Express from Brig to St Moritz. I've researched quite a bit, but if there is any first hand insight into taking the Regional Train, it would be much appreciated. We are only a month from leaving and are excited beyond measure!

The search feature is right at the top of the page on the desktop site, magnifying glass plus the word SEARCH grayed-out. Same on my iPad.

On my Android phone, I have to select the 5 parallel lines in the upper left to get a drop down with SEARCH.

Sorry, I have not taken that train. Might be covered on The Man in Seat 61 website.

The Search function here is admittedly awkward. For best results-

Type your topic- this box is in different places depending on your device. For instance, on my IPad, the box is top center.

Filter by:
Travel Forum

Then choose:
Six month, twelve months, or two years (of recent posts).

Good luck!

The regional trains are great, and give you much more flexibility. We took the regional trains instead of the panoramic train for the Bernina Express route. Would do it again ! You have a treat waiting you!

The regional trains do not make that journey straight through in one train, as the type of track changes from cogs to regular at certain points. And the sections are managed by different companies. Only the special Glacier Express trains can manage to go straight through.

To use the regional trains, you must make several changes, at a minimum at Andermatt, Disentis, and Reichenau-Tamins if I read the SBB schedule correctly.

Instead of trying to figure this out from the Search function, I suggest you start a new thread with the title something like “Brig to St. Moritz but NOT the Glacier Express”. I believe Sam knows how to do it correctly.

Also try googling on something like "rick steves switzerland forum train brig" --- it's often a better way to search these forums.

The Swiss Railways site in English is sbb.ch/en It will show you all the many regional options. I think they all require multiple connections, but thats not a deterrent. You can specify a "via" station in "Settings" to get the same route as the Glacier Express which also shows up on sbb.ch. Note fares shown assume you have the half-price ticket.
