Sealpsee mountain trail hike

Hello all,

I am looking at a 1/2 trip to Sealpsee from Zurich. However I am not being able to gauge whether the paved road/mountain trail to the lake are doable by a non-hiker such as myself. The reviews and information available online mention the hikes to be easy/ moderate with steep bits.

Since I have minor knee and back related issues, please guide on whether this hike is more towards a moderate level of difficulty or is relatively doable

thank you in advance

From the perspective of a middle-aged beginner hiker in relatively good shape and living in a flat geographic region, there is no such thing as an easy hike in the alps.

I hiked in the Dolomites this summer and trails rated as easy were actually hard for me (most of my big hikes were 6 mile loops with modest elevation gain). Generally my knees don’t bother me, but they did the first few hikes. I was even using trekking poles.

Having said that, I will be going again next year and will probably be doing this same hike. But I will be training a lot more this time and trying to increase muscle and stamina.

Having a healthy amount of fear and respect for the mountains, coming prepared, and knowing your limits is really important.
