Schilthorn closed in June?

Hello! I'm going to be in Murren from June 22-26. I saw on the Schilthorn website that the aerial cableway from Birg to the Schilthorn will be out of service from June 23 to 25. I assume this means that the Schilthorn is basically unavailable during this time (unless you want to hike up there). Is that correct? It looks like you can purchase a ticket (from Murren to Schilthorn) on the SBB app during this time period, so I thought perhaps I was misunderstanding something. Also, if the route from Birg to Schilthorn is unavailable on the cable car, will this have any impact on other operations of Schilthornbahn? If anybody could clarify this for me, I would really appreciate it. Thank you!

It is a closure that wasn't expected until recently, as they are doing work up there for the new funifor. You will still be able to get up to Birg, which has lovely views and is worth a visit. It won't affect Stechelberg/Gimmelwald/Murren/Birg, so you can still ride all the other sections.

The whole point of the new funifor is to have two independent lines, so that they would be open the whole year.
However in order to build the 2nd funifor line they needed to first demolish the old cable car, so until the 2nd line is finished they have only line. And as with all new cable cars the cables do stretch a bit in their first year, and need adjustment. They just did not expect to need to do it so soon, hence the closure which comes really at an inconvenient time.
