Schilthorn and Pilatus - similar excursions?

We will be in Switzerland June 30-July 3. We will be taking cable cars to Schilthorn from Murren. Is the Golden round Trip to Pilatus a similar adventure. Should we do both or plan something else in Luzern? Is taking the riverboat to the hidden fortress a worthwhile destination?

riverboat to the hidden fortress

I've been going to the Berner Oberland and Luzern every year for over 10 years. I've never heard of the riverboat to the hidden fortress. In fact, Luzern is on a lake, Vierwaldstattersee (Lake Lucerne) and only has lake steamers, nothing to do with a river. Interlaken has 2 lakes, Brienz and Thun, both with lake steamers but no riverboats.

Sorry, yes it is a lake steamer. The web site said there was a few places to get off and one was to a walk through to a fortress used in WWII hidden in the mountains. Are you familiar with "Golden Round Trip" to Mt. Pilatus? is it a similar jaunt to visiting Schilthorn from Murren?

They both offer fabulous views from the top, with relatively easy hiking options on Pilatus. Having said that tho, a steamer trip on the lake is beautiful as well! With such limited time I might be inclined to do the later. I spent 2 months travelling in Switzerland in 2012 and everywhere is so beautiful you can't go wrong no matter what you decide!

I don't know which you'll do first. If you see Schilthorn first, you can gauge whether you've had your fill of mountain tops, but my guess is you'll still have room for more.
