I am trying to book Munich to Lucerne on the DBahn web site, for June 2015. For the Zurich to Lucerne leg of the trip I am getting notes "Can only be checked on making a booking"
"reservation impossible"
an option to click on "book only exactly requested reservation items" and an another option
"book without reservation"
What do these mean????
I see that in Switzerland, some trains no reservation is necessary and in some cases not even possible. Is this the case Zurich to Lucerne?
I just found that SBB books online rail only 30 days out.
I have found it is cheaper to book Munich to Lucerne, than to book Munich-Zurich, then add Zurich-Lucerne.
What is the best way to book Munich to Lucerne in your opinions?
Thank you
I had no trouble getting to the part to enter my credit card info for June 6. That is as far out as you can book now as DB is 90 days out maximum.
No issue with credit card, the messages listed above are after signing into account and entering credit card information.
Figured it out, clicked on "book only exactly requested reservation items." Everything went through just fine.
There is no booking of seats for trains in Switzerland. It doesn't exist, no reserved seats, no way no how. There is also no price advantage in booking earlier, the same price applies whenever you buy the ticket, and all tickets are valid on any train.
Therefore you can't book a seat for Zürich to Luzern. You just get on the next train and find an empty seat.
For your train Munich to Zürich, you have a reserved seat up until, the Swiss border, but, as you are already sitting in the seat, nobody will take it after you are in Switzerland.
