It is my opinion that the SBB luggage service is not very useful. I am probably not alone, as the service has been cut back repeatedly, which seems to point to it not being something that is used by many people.

Travelling with luggage on Swiss trains is not a problem for normal healthy adults. Just don't pack as if you are moving countries. Rolling duffel style luggage is the best for train travel in my opinion.

@gaurav.gholap Did you end up using the SBB luggage service? I am trying to book a luggage transfer for myself but it won't let me enter a USA address for the billing address. Only allows Switzerland or Lichtenstein addresses. I'm at a loss with how to move forward (and confused on why/how so many people -- Americans included -- recommend this service if it can't be booked?). Any tips?

What kind of luggage service are you trying to book? The only luggage service that needs to be booked in advance is from Switzerland to points abroad, and that can indeed only be booked by residents.
For station to station for example there is no need to book in advance. Just go to the station. But I will repeat my remark that it is in my opinion not a very useful service, and I expect it to disappear in the fugure. (It has been much reduced already...)
