SBB Half Fare Card Start Date Question

This may be a dumb question, but I just want to be sure...

I just bought a Half Fare Card and set the "valid from" date to a couple of days before we arrive in Switzerland. Now I want to go ahead and buy a Saver Day Pass, at the half fare price, for one of the days when we're there. I'm assuming that this is valid, since the Day Pass date will be after the start date of the Half Fare Card. But just wanting to make sure that the "valid from" date = the date I can start travelling for half fare and not the date I can start purchasing cheaper tickets from. I don't want to get into trouble when I'm there...

When your Saver Day Pass is checked on a train, you will also show your Half Fare Card (and maybe your passport). The Saver Day Pass is valid for that day and you have a Half Fare Card and you are the person named on both. That is the end of it. You don't need to have a Half Fare Card when you buy a ticket, just when you use it.

You do not need the Half Fare Card for buying tickets (and passes) at half price. So you could even have waited with purchasing the HFC till you were on the ground in Switzerland.

It is on the trains itself that you will be asked to show the HFC when showing a half fare ticket or pass.
