Saver Day Pass to Murren

Is this route covered under the saver day pass.

  1. Stechelberg to Murren via gondola
  2. Murren to Grutshalp train, and then cable car to Lauterbrunnen

Also there is the scenic spot of the church overlooking Lauterbrunnen. Is this church en route on the Lauterbrunnen Valley hike to Stechelberg or is this in the opposite direction. If the latter, how far is the church from the station?

Yes, the saver day pass will cover all of that. It will cover you up to murren and up to wengen, but not any higher than that.

There are a few churches and I’m not sure which one you are referring to. I like the few from one of the churches in Wengen. If you walk through the main street, the church will be on your left. You can see that here at the 5 minute mark.

There is also a church in Lauterbrunnen that you can see from the train ride up to Wengen.

On your walk from Lauterbrunnen to Stechelberg you will pass the cemetery.

Oh are there a few, i thought there was only one :D? I just had in my notes, there is one near Lauterbrunnen train station that gives a good view. But forgot where I read that from.

Thank you for the links.

Yes, thank you. I'm very excited. Hoping for a bit of good weather, that and my train connections are what is stressing me out the most as you can probably tell :D.

Is there also another way i can get back to Lauterbrunnen from Murren. At 1min 38 secs in the above link, looks like there is a cable car directly from murren. Or is that #2 where I have to take a train part way?

Or is that #1 and it stops in Lauterbrunnen after Stechelberg?

Honestly, Switzerland is the one country where I don’t stress about the trains. Once you are there, you will see how easily everything works. If you miss a connection, just take the next.

The cable car from Stechelberg to Murren will make a stop in Gimmelwald where you will just walk over to change cable cars. No need to worry about missing the connection as the cable car will wait for everyone to walk over. It’s just a few steps.

If you take the train from Murren to Lauterbrunnen, the connection from Grutshalp to the cable car down to Lauterbrunnen is also just a few steps. Just follow the people. The cable car will wait for everyone to get on.

It will all make sense once you are there and see how things work. Switzerland has the best public transportation that I have used so far. It really is super easy to use and very efficient. Use the SBB app for the trains which will show you where to stand on the platforms for 1st and 2nd class. There are also signs at the train station.

Here’s what I do: I check everything on the app before I leave. What platform and where I need to stand. Then, when I get to the train station, I double check everything looking at the signs at the station. I have yet to get on a wrong train. :)
