Saver day pass coverage - lauterbrunnen to murren

How can i tell whether my saver day pass covers lauterbrunnen to murren?

I did a google direction search and got this:

The first mode of transport looks like some cable car or funicular. But it is my understanding the saver day pass doesn't cover this, only trains.

When I look at the coverage map, i see a black line to lauterbrunnen that indicates "cableway".

How can i tell what cableway its referring to? I'm so confused, there are so many ways to get there but I'm not sure how to work out the route that is covered.

Trust me on this one. The Saver Day Pass is valid to Muerren, whether you go via Stechelberg on the bus then the cable car to Gimmelwald, then Muerren, or with the cable car from Lauterbrunnen to Gruetschalp, then the train to Muerren.

That is because Muerren is in the GA area. It is an inhabited village, therefor transport to there is free with the Saver Day Pass, the Swiss Travel Pass, or the Swiss GA Travelcard.
Map of validity is here. https://www.swiss-pass.ch/wp-content/uploads/pdf/swiss-travel-system-map.pdf

* Wengen to Grindlewald (i think this one is a cable car??)
* Interlaken to Chur (via Bern/Zurich)

Those are all inhabited areas, so yes, they’re covered. When it says not a cable car, they mean tourist destinations where no one lives - such as Schilthorn, First, Mannlichen, etc. not specifically because they are cable cars. It’s the location, not the mode of transport.

To get from Wengen to Grindelwald there are multiple routes. The cable car from Wengen > Mannlichen > Grindelwald is not covered because Mannlichen is a tourist spot. The Route from Wengen > Kleine Scheidegg > Grindelwald isn’t covered because Kleine Scheidegg is just for tourism. The 3rd option - Wengen > Lauterbrunnen > Zweilutchinen > Grindelwald is covered because it stays in the GA validity zones.

Ah is that right?! Thats good to know, makes it much easier to gauge rather than looking that the map which i don't think is clear from a tourist point of view.

Thanks for that.

Ok, but all the options above would be covered under the berner oberland pass right?

GA= General Abonnement, aka a season pass. It only covers transport modes to inhabited locales, not tourist sites like Schilthorn or Jungfraujoch, although it does include some like Rigi Kulm and Stanserhorn.

I used to have a GA for a long time. It is what most commuters here buy. Once I no longer had one I really had to get used to buying tickets again...
The whole idea is that a GA can replace a car, and for me it did. I got rid of my car within months of arriving in Switzerland. I have since never regretted not having one. The public transit system here really makes it possible to do without a car, and that is a great saving. The GA is a bargain in comparison.

So generally: Public transit is transport hat is intended for every day use. There are kids in Mürren that take the cable car down every day to go to school. This is all regulated by the Canton. So for example the WAB runs every half hour from Lauterbrunnen to Wengen, from morning till late in the evening, because the Canton has basically told them to (and is paying them for it). But beyond Wengen the WAB is free to do what it wants, because that is no longer public transit, but tourist transport. Which is why on that part the schedule changes depending on the season, and the line even gets shut down completely for maintenance on occasion.
