Need suggestions on getting from Salzburg to Lauterbrunnen.
Zurich first and then Lauterbrunnen or is there a better way?
Rome2Rio shows a 10 hour journey through Sargans and Basel. It also shows you can fly to Zurich then take the train in 4.5 hours.
Through Basel? Really? Shortest way would be Railjet to Zurich, then Swiss IC trains to Bern and Interlaken, then the B.O. Bahn to Lauterbrunnen in 8 hours.
Unfortunately I think that Basel would be a bad steer on this one. There would be backtracking. Railjet to Zurich and oonwards as above is the way to go. Zurich, Bern, Interlaken and up for the fast route; Zurich, Luzern, Brunig Pass (Zentralbahn or Golden Pass) to Interlaken and up for the scenic route.
No, you don't need to come to Basel, that would involve doubling back.
Salzburg (Austrian Railjet train) --> Zürich --> Bern --> Interlaken Ost --> Lauterbrunnun.
www.oebb.at or www.sbb.ch should give you times and prices.
Edit Nigel posted the same info at the same time. Snap!
Great travel advising ya'll. If you have questions re Texas travel ley me know. Thanks.
And that's a "fail" for Rome2Rio. Thanks guys!
How to Look Up Train Schedules and Routes Online gives you the recommended DB train schedule link and tips for using it across Europe. It will always focus on the fastest connection routes, unless you request a detour. Although trains run similar patterns on most days, the connection points are not the same for every departure, and these give confirmed schedules for particular dates and time. The Swiss and Austria rail links listed by Chris work similarly.
