Hello! I am considering taking a 3-6 months sabbatical from work, and am looking for leads on the best way to find long term rentals in the Swiss Alps. Doesn't have to be fancy. I'm looking for peace and quiet up in the hills, away from the crowds. A place to rest and restore after a very stressful and exhausting three years working as a nurse. Thanks for your suggestions!

First, let me ask. Are you aware of the Schengen rules regarding length of stay? Ninety days in a 180 day period. To stay longer, you have to apply for a visa.
What time period are you looking at? (Season?)

Hello,
Early in the planning stages. Most likely May-October (probably 2024), but it is flexible. I am also open to moving around if needed due to regulations, but will look into a potential visa. Thanks for the heads up.

We rented a holiday apartment for three months when we moved to Switzerland from Canada. We looked at places that were listed as “Ferienwohnung” in the towns that we saw as possibilities and also at airbnb listings.
Everyone that I contacted was happy to take us, and we were able to choose the one that fit our needs the best.
Finding a place that does not already have any bookings during your time period can be the biggest problem. We stayed away from the tourist hot spots and had success that way.
Since living here I have also come across BnB Switzerland, that could be another place to look.
