We are planning a trip to Switzerland and decided a guided tour might be better for us. The only option available is two weeks at the end of June. I am concerned it will be too hot especially in the hotels. Also, do the summer crowds really affect your visit while on a guided tour?
Also, anyone been on a waitlist for a sold out RS tour? How likely are cancellations and how far in advance were you notified? We are still working so we can't be as spontaneous as we would like!
Thank You!
This site is a bunch of fellow travelers and not the RSteves' office staff. Direct your question about the waiting list directly to the office. We were on one waiting list that never cleared. I cannot draw a conclusion from that single experience. We have been in Switzerland in June and July and it was quite nice weather wise. Remember you are in the mountains and it can be cool. We always wore a windbreaker. Crowds will vary depending on where you are. We have never been only brother by crowds except for Rome which can be really crowd.
I did the Switzerland tour in early June, and think June is a good time to visit. These days, very few places are immune to heat waves, but Switzerland is certainly going to be cooler than Italy. I can't think of too many places on the tour where crowds were an issue, but your guide will organize the days to avoid as much as possible.
I think you are looking at dates that are still available? I would grab them.
