Hi,
We are a group of 5 adults, wanting to travel through Switzerland. We plan to fly out from Zurich. We were thinking 1 night in Basel, 2 nights in Interlaken, 2 nights in Lucerne, and 1 night in Zurich. This trip is booked from Sept. 25. We are planning on travelling by train. Does this itinerary make sense? Should we buy the Oberland pass? Any recommendations would be appreciated.
I would tweak it by staying in Lauterbruen not interlaken. That would put you in the mountains and position you for better walls etc. Others will argue Murren or Wengen. But I think Lauterbruen gives you more flexibility and we enjoyed our 3 days there. I was just in Basel....Charming bit I would skip it and go directly to Lauterbruen so you have more time in Alps
Basel is charming, but the Alps are majestic. Spend as much time as possible in Murren, Wengen, or Lauterbrunen. Put Lucerne at the end, as it's easy to commute directly to the Zurich airport from Lucerne.
This is a frequent topic, so perhaps look at past posts under Switzerland, do a Search here, and review posted Trip Reports.
Have a great trip in this beautiful country! Safe travels!
