Riding on both BE and GE

Any advantages or suggestions on doing one vs the other
a) From Milan via Tirano, ride the Bernina express to St. Moritz. Spend a couple nights there and then take the Glacier Express to Zermatt.

B) Follow the reverse order, from Milan to Zermatt, spend a couple days there and then take the glacier express to St. Moritz and then the Bernina express from St. Moritz to Chur.
Looking for input in terms of convenience, best routes on each of the 2 trains etc.
We want to ride on both and do not mind extended rides on both the trains.

Where do you want to go afterward? If returning to Milan, it really makes no difference.

We fly out of zurich...so will spend 5 days after the train ride either based in lucerne or in around interlaken. Not decided yet. Any suggestions on that in comparidon to the train route?

Go Milan-Tirano-St Moritz-Zermatt. The other way you would miss the actual Bernina Pass. The eastbound Glacier Express goes from Zermatt to Chur to St Moritz. So returning toward Luzern on the Bernina Express would simply repeat the same journey from St Moritz to Chur.
Another line worth doing when you leave Zermatt is to take the Loetschberg Express from Visp to Spiez. You need to specify "via Kandersteg". This route will take you over the mountain instead of under it on the new Loetschberg Base Tunnel. It adds an hour to the journey time but more scenery.
From Interlaken take the Bruenig Pass line to Luzern. More mountain scenery.
