I'm disappointed that the RickSteves Audio Europe App has NOTHING in Switzerland at all. Even if he didn't have the step by step audio walking tours (which I've loved in other countries), he often has included interviews with local guides or radio broadcasts about the location or the food or something. But the entire country gets no mention whatsoever. I enjoy listening to a lot of the interviews on the flight over, if not before.
I guess Rick doesn't think it is a priority, given Switzerland is all about Alpine scenery. Not much his voice can add or detract from that.
I just looked, and next week's show (August 25) will include "Slow Train to Switzerland:"
Learn how tourism as we know it was invented by middle-class, Victorian-era English travelers seeking a pleasure trip in the Swiss Alps.
So, that's one thing to listen to before your trip!
clv,
The Switzerland guidebook has a lot of good information, so perhaps Rick feels an audio guide isn't necessary? Touring in Switzerland is mostly about the outdoors rather than museums or art galleries, so that's probably not a good fit for an audio guide.
There are two Switzerland audio options listed under Germany/Austria.
