Rick steves book doesn't have any recommendations for Basel and I would appreciate any restaurants you have been to that was worth the trip in Basel and nearby France. Thank you!
Hi , there is restaurant Hasenburg near hotel Basel . It’s more for local people than tourists . Great Swiss food . Not fancy . Closed on vacation from July till August 6 .
Take a look on there website if you like it .
Perhaps someone can suggest places that will be open in July. We see lots of questions on Basel now, due to river cruises starting or ending there.
- Gifthüttli. Schneidergasse 11 (directly opposite the Hasenberg). Local Swiss dishes (Nüsslisalat, Rössti, Leberli). Specialises in Cordon Bleu. Nice seats outside. Website: http://www.gifthuettli.ch/
- Elsbethenstübli. Elisabethenstrasse 34. Good for Fondue and Swiss dishes. Only tourists eat Fondue in Summer. http://www.elsbethenstuebli.ch/
- For lunch, any of the three restaurants on the Rhine (Klein Basel side), near the Mittlere Brücke (middle bridge). Primarily for location.
Too many more to list. Just pick one.
If you want (relatively) cheap, any of the Italian restaurants around Basel.
