Reservation needed for Schynige Platte?

At the Jungfrau.ch site you reserve tickets but there is no option to use the BO Pass, which is what we’ll use. Are reservations necessary? It looks like a small train so I imagine there will be long waits.

I do not see anywhere you can buy seat reservations for the Schynige Platte train. The site you quote only sells tickets. If you have a BO pass, you do not need a ticket, so just get to Wilderswil early.

Buying a ticket in Switzerland does not give you a guaranteed seat, only a separate seat reservation does. The only seat reservations I see offered by Jungfrau Railway is for the Jungfraujochbahn.

I was just there in June and there were some train cars that were reserved. My guess is those were for tour groups.

The seats on the train are bench style. So, no individual seats. And they’re not very comfortable. I had a kid sitting across from me that kept kicking me.

I suggest getting there as early as possible and be prepared to wait if you can’t get on right away.

The views are spectacular. So, definitely worth doing.

No reservations, but do arrive around 20 minutes before scheduled departure. We were just there a couple days ago and it was packed. We had to wait in line for tickets/passes to be checked and then there was a mass of people stuffing on to all the cars. It’s typical for the area in August, as everything is insanely crowded right now. Unlike anything I’ve seen here ever before. Hopefully it will settle a bit in a few weeks.
