Renting Hiking Poles in Interlaken

Hello! My husband I are about to spend 6 days in Interlaken and plan on doing a lot of hiking.
Since hiking poles are not allowed for carry-on, I'm wondering if it's easy to rent hiking poles and how much it costs.
We are trying to avoid check-in luggage if possible.
Thank you!

You might ask your hotel if they have poles to loan to guests, or if they can recommend a rental source in Interlaken. I was looking at Grindelwald hotels yesterday, and noticed that one has poles for rent. But rental for 6 days might add up to pretty close to the cost of poles purchased there.

I just go ahead and check a bag with the poles, and it has never gone astray, but maybe we have just been lucky.

Thank you for your reply! I'll ask the hotel right away. I wasn't worried about luggage being lost. It's just that the poles (even when shortened) don't fit the carry on luggage size. It's just a balance of which options is best.
Thanks again!

OK, I see. I now have fold-up Z poles that fit in standard 22” luggage and take those to Switzerland. But before I bought those, I put my regular collapsible poles in a lightweight duffel bag, along with a few clothing items to pad the poles a bit, and checked that. On arrival I could hook the duffel over the handles of my roller bag for walking to the train or to our hotel. And then we used the duffel for shopping or carrying any extra items. So that worked out fine.

I checked with Intersport in Murren, the rental is 10 CHF per day. I believe they have a store in interlaken as well.

I was in a Mountain Warehouse last week and they had the expensive ones, but also a pretty decent pair for £12.99. You could probably find an inexpensive pair to buy at the InterSport, as well as the rentals of the more expensive ones. I'd start at the original branch of Eiger Sport in Unterseen, across the tracks from Interlaken West. The Sports Store branch across from the station in Interlaken West is much smaller.
