Refund for unused tickets purchased through RhB

Hello. I purchased reservations and tickets through RhB for the Bernina Express. We have changed our plans and would like a ticket refund. We understand that the reservation may not be refunded; however, we thought that unused tickets could be refunded since those purchased through SBB are refunded easily. RhB informs us that they only refund tickets for an illness, death, or when it is their fault.
This seems odd to have such different policies since the tickets are point to point just as SBB purchased tickets. Does anyone on this forum know of a way to refund the unused tickets purchased through RhB?
Thank you.

Are those e-tickets, and do they have SBB or RhB logos on them?

One issue with e-tickets is that it is hard to "un-issue" them. People could buy tickets, then ask for a refund, but not destroy their tickets and use them for travel anyway. That is why e-tickets are generally not refundable.

This is also why I advise people against jumping the gun on train tickets.

Thank you for your reply.

Yes, it appears they are e-tickets. The fine print states "For refunds, T600.9 or the conditions of the relevant transport company or operator apply ... refunds ... of international journeys are made in according with international terms and conditions." They are issued by Swiss Pass / Rhatische Bahn.
