Recommendations for breakfast/brunch in Luzern

Hello. We (family of 5, 3 adults and 2 teens) will be traveling from Montreal to Zurich in late June, arriving ZRH at 6:30 am. We will be staying at an apartment in Mürren for 6 nights. Check in is 2 pm.

My plan is for us to train from the airport to Luzern, store our luggage at the train station, wander around town for a bit, and have a big sit-down breakfast/brunch. We’ll then aim to catch the 12:06 to Interlaken, arriving in Mürren at 14:58.

Can anyone recommend a good place for breakfast within walking distance of the train station? We like good food, not fancy, bonus for a view or outside seating if it’s warm enough.

Thanks!

I agree with Tim about Manora.

Reasonable (for Switzerland) prices, good location, rooftop terrace, close to the station, the Chapel Bridge and the boats.

Opens at 9 during the week. 8 on Saturdays.

For people reading this and visiting before you, note that the day before a holiday, the 29th of May, they close early, and on a holiday they are closed, in this case Ascension Day on the 30th of May.

You won't get a Canadian style breakfast there - mainly breads, pastries and fruit - and coffee. I've only been there for mid day meals and dinner, but heavy breakfasts are not the Swiss way.

You might consider a lake steamer wandering around Lake Lucerne (Vierwaldstättersee) - some boats serve breakfast (not cheap).

Thank you both for the recommendation. Looks perfect!

Nigel, a boat cruise sounds wonderful, but I think we will save it for a day later in the week. Boat rides are so relaxing, and in our jet-lagged condition on arrival day, I picture all five of us snoozing face down in our breakfast plates!! But we are definitely planning to explore the water around Interlaken during our stay in Mürren.

Thanks much!

Sorry, late to the party on this one. The train station itself actually has some places for take out ( at least 2 that I remember and maybe more). We got an excellent sandwich, pastry and drinks. Much less expensive than any restaurant we saw in town. After you drop your bags you can check it out and see if you like the looks.
