I am visiting Italy in the middle of March 2017 and we were wanting to spend 2 to 3 days in Switzerland. We have been looking at visiting Interlaken since it is not too far from Milan. Is that a good place to stay during that time of year? We do not ski at all, yet up for any other adventure activities and touristy things. Where are some good places to stay and things to do?
Interlaken may be near Milan in a straight line, but there is no straight route to get there, mountains in the way!
How are you travelling, car or train? If you are driving, look up routes and times on https://www.viamichelin.com/ If going by train, use SBB: http://www.sbb.ch/en/home.html
3-4 hours by train; 294 km 03h49 by car assuming no stops.
2 days = 1 night. I would not travel that far for one night, minimum 2.
What do you want to do, see mountains, go up them, hike, ski?
March will be the tail end of the skiing season, snow in most high places.
I would suggest somewhere on the south side of the Alps, perhaps Stresa, which gives you lake and mountains.
Or somewhere in the Valais (Swiss side of the Simplon Pass).
