Questions regarding trip to Wengen & Lugano, and Lake Como

My husband & I just love Wengen, have been there 6 times, and want to return in early September. It's my favorite destination.
We usually try to add something new to each trip, a different location.
We've been to Appenzell, Zermatt, Lucerne. This time, we were thinking about spending 5-6 days in Wengen, and then checking out Lugano, maybe Lake Como, maybe even 1 day in Milan.
We fly out of Boston, and have always flown in & out of Zurich. This trip could be about 12 nights
Looking for suggestions for logistics with this, best train routes & if this is too much moving around.
We would be ok with Wengen and 1 other destination.
I usually get my best deal on Expedia, and wondering if its usually a lot of added cost to fly in & out of 2 different locations
Husband is concerned about a lot of train time if flying in & out of Zurich
I will greatly appreciate any feedback, thanks so much for your time !

We are going to Switzerland in Sept. Usually, we fly open jaw, but this time we are doing round trip to Zurich. Our tickets were purchased directly through the airline for the best deal. However, last year, we got the best price through Expedia, and fortunately, didn't have any problems. We will be there for 2 weeks, and our route is: Zurich, Murren, Zermatt, Lugano, Engelburg, Zurich. The longest train ride will be to Lugano. The price difference has to be considerably less for me not to purchase from the airline. If a problem arises, it is easier to deal with just them. Also, pick out a route that you would like, and price it out on the airline site or Expedia, Kayak, etc. For example, check what it would cost to fly into Zurich, and out of Milan compared to round trip Zurich.

Thanks for your input Diane, much appreciated.
When I check just airfare, it usually comes to about 2k roundtrip for 2 from Boston to Zurich. We prefer nonstop, some layovers are too long
Then if I check Expedia, it seems a better deal to bundle air & hotel
