Questions regarding Swiss Flex Pass vs Half-Fare Travel card

Greetings:

We have a scheduled trip to Switzerland which begins on Wednesday, September 18th and concludes on Tuesday, October 1st. Our questions pertain to advantages of the Swiss Travel Pass Flex -6 day vs. the Half-Fare Travel. We're leaning toward the Flex Pass. Our itinerary is as follows:
1) Zürick- visit half day and off to Lucerne

2) Lucerne - stay 3 days (Travel day, schedule a Lucerne boat ride. Schedule a trip to Pilatus on the following day. (Do we still get the discounts to get to Pilatus without losing a flex pass day?)**

3) Lucerne to Interlaken and up to Mürren- stay 4 days. (During our visit do we still get the discounts for additional transportation used on the mountain?)

4) Mürren to Brienz - stay 2 days (Do we have to take our lake boat ride on the same travel day so we don't lose a flex day?)

5) Brienz to Lausanne - stay 3 days (We want to visit Château de Chillon, Montreux, Gruyères and Vevey. Should we pay for these excursions outside of using the Flex Pass?)

6)Lausanne to Bern - 1 day stay

7) Bern to Basel and off to Colmar, France

Thanks in advance for your responses!!!!!!

Do we still get the discounts to get to Pilatus without losing a flex
pass day?

No. Every time you use the Pass, its counts as a day.

Do we have to take our lake boat ride on the same travel day so we
don't lose a flex day?

Yes. If you use the Pass one day to travel Mürren to Brienz and another day for the boat ride, that is 2 days on the Pass.

I would either get the regular Swiss Travel Pass or the Half Fare card.

Also no on this one.

There is in my opinion no real good use case for the Swiss Travel Pass Flex. If your plan is to do spend time exploring an area, and your only long trips are when changing bases you are best off with the Half Fare Card, and just buying tickets.
