Questions on the Swiss covid certificate

Planning on traveling to Switzerland next month (I know September would have been better weather but too much going on at work and not able to get off). I have been following the advice on this forum for the entrance and travel requirements. Thanks to everyone that has shared so much information.

I have downloaded the Swiss covid certificate app. It was offline for a number of days and would not generate a transfer code. Finally today I suddenly have the transfer code. Applied on the Valais site and put attached a pdf file of my paper covid CDC immunization card. I did get the green light of confirmation so will see if mine comes through.

My question is this, for my husband do I generate a new transfer code in the Swiss covid app? Do I use the same transfer code and just fill out the same form? Those of you that did receive your certificate in the app how did you complete it for multiple people?

It does seen that all this is changing so much that I’m not sure its needed until October 10th or what else will be required. But for now will try and get these certificates

Yes, your husband should also download the App and get his own transfer code. My husband and I used the same email to complete, but different cell #s.
However…although we applied through the Valais canton on Wednesday, I received my certificate Friday, whereas my husband still has not received his certificate.
We also applied through the Bern canton a week ago, but have not had a reply.

Thanks for your help! We will see if it works. Sounds like some have gotten a certificate in their app and others have not. Hopefully will work.

Just a heads up…..in Lauterbrunnen right now…….took the walk-in the snow!!!- from Mannlichen to Kleine Scheidegge just this morning…..got to KS and was sitting in a restaurant there for a lunch stop…..very sparse crowd as its been drizzling rain all morning and snow on the trail yesterday tho melting….and the waiter in the restaurant could not get his”machine” to read my Swiss QR code…..so we were asked to leave…hubby and I both pulled out our CDC vac cards but that was not good enough……I have a hard copy of my QR code and my hubby’s ( that was safely tucked away in my hotel room) and will now add that to my passport folder…..been here since Friday afternoon and that is the first time we have been asked to leave……even here at Hotel Silberhorn they want to see our vac cards before each breakfast…..seems its up to the waiter as to how it is handled! Showed the vac cards and passports when we checked in here and thought that would be good enough as we are checked in here and guests all week but they still want to see that vac card every morning before breakfast…….?????? Have been eating as many meals as we can outdoors…..when we were turned away earlier we grabbed a bite and ate outside….

Thank you Jane for the info, I am sure that there will be confusion during our stay. We are prepared to buy more grocery meals and have less restaurant meals but were hoping to at least have the hotel breakfasts. We are still waiting for the QR codes and will see what happens. Still really looking forward to going to the mountains and enjoying Switzerland, so if eating out of grocery stores is our option then that is what we will do. This trip is so needed for me after the past 18 months working as a nurse in these exceptionally stressful times.

I did email the art museum in Luzern asking if our CDC cards and passport would allow our admission and they replied that it would be adequate at this time. Will see what rules are in two weeks.

Also sounds like we need to pack a few warmer clothes. We were in Switzerland in 2016 in October and had very nice weather. Easy to underestimate what to pack while its 80 degrees here!

You so deserve a break! I will tell you that we brought a fleece and wear it over hiking pants and t-shirts but it snowed last night…..had to cancel half of our hike today as the trail was closed!……so you might waterproof your shoes and raincoat as I wish I had…..my hiking boots held up fine but hubby’s feet got wet……when the sun is out the weather is totally different. We brought our passports and vac cards and thought we had downloaded the correct QR Swiss code but obviously we didn’t…….just stay on this site as people are so helpful and fill out all you can! I will be posting my trip reports soon on the Trip Reports RSteves site so hope that helps!

BMills, I guess there is no definitive answer. As I mentioned earlier, husband and I both applied for Swiss Covid certificate from the Canton of Bern. Husband just got a reply from Bern: “at this time, no certificates will be issued to tourists. Need to be tested.”
Husband is still waiting for his Swiss Covid Certificate from Valais.
Jane: You and your husband are such troopers!
If the weather was sunny in Wengen today, we would have done the Panorama trail, but since there was snow at the top, we left early for Luzern. Could you see the Eiger at all on your hike?
