Questions for 3 nights in Wengen.

Hi friends,

My wife and I will be travelling to Wengen for 3 nights.

Question 1: We are coming from Zurich Airport. What is the most cost efficient way to get to Wengen? I am on the sbb (swiss rail) and the only ticket available is the day pass for CHF$52. Is that the most "cost efficient" way?

Question 2: We will be spending 3 nights in Wengen before heading back to stay in Zurich for 2 nights. Which pass would be most appropriate for our trip to Wengen? Jungfrau or Regional Bernese Oberland Pass?

Thank you!

According to SBB the current price is 35chf one way either direction between Zurich AP and Wengen for just a train ticket. Maybe the Half Fare Card would be the best. You would have to cost out your planned trips to see which is cheapest.

Thank you for your response threadwear.

I do see the discounted rate - however when I click to purchase - it reverts back to the day pass of CHF$52.

Not sure what i did wrong. Any ideas?

The 35 CHF price mentioned by Threadwear appears to be a Supersaver ticket with a Half Fare Card. You don't want a Supersaver ticket because you cannot be sure your flight will arrive on time and no hassles with luggage or clearing immigration. The Super Saver is train-specific. If you click on the "No Discount" box it will go to the next best price which is a Saver Day Pass for 52 CHF. You can use that on any train the day you arrive. The undiscounted point-to-point ticket price is 84.40 CHF.

As far as which local pass is best, depends on where you are going once you get to Wengen.
