For planning purposes, does it make sense to purchase an eSIM for iPhone in U.S. before traveling to Switzerland for a 2 week trip? If so, can you recommend a reputable online source? Thanks in advance.

I bought one there and it was, as I recall, reasonably priced for a lot of capacity. The store (Swisscom) installed it and ensured I was fully operational before I walked out.

As for maps and even finding your location on the map using GPS, you don't even need a sim.
Just download a free mapping program (I like maps.me) in advance along with the country map, and it will work fine just using your phone's GPS.
Even if you do get a sim, the above will save you a lot of data/money.

The Zurich airport has a Sunrise and a Swisscom store.
