Question on Swiss Saver Day Pass

If I am traveling by train from Liechtenstein to Murren and I buy the Saver Day pass does it include the cable car to Grutschalp and the train from Grutschalp from to Murren?
Thanks for any help.

If you buy a ticket to Murren, it has to take you to Murren. If it didn't include the cable car/train up from Lauterbrunnen then it would only be a ticket from Liechtenstein to Lauterbrunnen...

But with a Saver Day Pass, you can go anywhere in Switzerland all day that is part of the G.A. area, as shone on the Map "Area of validity Swiss Travel Pass". and that includes the gondola to Gruetschalp and the train to Muerren. For that matter, it also includes the postbus to Stechelberg and the cable car to Gimmelwald and Muerren. Also the buses in Liechtenstein.

Keep in mind that Saver Day Passes can, and do, sell out. Especially weekends.

You best price will be exactly 60 days before your travel date. The price goes up the closer you get to your travel date as the lowest price tranches of tickets sell out.

Generally speaking railways, cable cars etc... fall in two categories:

  • Public transport
  • Touristic transport.

Anything that serves a place that is permanently inhabited is considered public transport. So for example the cable car from Stechelberg via Gimmelwald to Murren is considered public transport, but its continuation to Birg and the Schilthorn is tourist transport.

Swiss Travel Passes, the Saver Day pass. Day tickets etc... all cover all public transport. So does the "GA", the GeneralAbo, which is basically like a Swiss Travel Pass, but valid for a year. Popular with commuters.

With the Swiss Travel Pass you have also 50% off on touristic transport, and so does the Half Fare Card.
