Purchasing Swiss Francs

We’ll be arriving in Lauterbrunnen by train (from Italy) on a Saturday afternoon around 3 p.m. The SBB website indicates that currency exchange is a service offered at that station, but I’ve not found the hours that is available and/or if there is an ATM on site. Is there anyone who has purchased Swiss Francs at the Lauterbrunnen train station? Thanks.

Use the ATM at the Raiffeisenbank in Lauterbrunnen. It's maybe a 1-2 minute walk outside the train station. Walk outside, look left past the Coop grocery store and it's there. That's where you'll get the best exchange rate, as opposed to exchanging cash for cash, which typically has a very bad exchange rate.

Regardless, you typically don't really need that much cash in Switzerland. We live in Murren all summer and the only time we ever use cash is at some of the farmer self service fridges where we buy our cheese and the local farmer we buy our meat from. Everywhere else accepts credit card (restaurants, grocery, rentals, etc.)

I live in Wengen I never use cash :-) I pay at the farmer fridges with my phone, but I suppose that this option will not be available to tourists... So bring some cash if you want to buy cheese...

WegenK, I was wondering if there is a particular app on your phone you use? We will be visiting the region in July.
Thank you very much for the posts here.

Apple Pay or Google Pay (some folks use Samsung pay but I don't know anything about it).

Twint is what will be accepted most. Even some of the farmer fridges accept Twint.
