Good morning,
My sister, a friend, and I will be arriving at the Geneva airport early on Wednesday, March 18. We need to travel to Annecy on the same day using public transportation (preferably train) but are not finding that train travel is optional. This does not make sense and I am sure it is this traveler's error. The only option for that day, that I am finding (using public transport) is FlixBus.
Please help. I am certain I a missing something.
Thank you
From the Geneva airport, the direct option is a bus. There are multiple options on SBB (the official public transportation site), not just flixbus. If you want to take a train, you have to train from the airport to Geneve main station and train from there. It’s around 20 minutes longer and requires the train change vs direct bus.
Options (times and pricing) are on SBB.ch/en - prices default to half fare card, so select full fare when pricing. The bus is around 20 chf full fare. The train option is around 40 chf full fare.
The bus is 10.70 full fare, the train 19.40
While it is true that SBB displays half fare by default, that only applies to Switzerland and Annecy is in France...
Thank you so much for your quick responses. With your help and knowledge, we have booked successfully.
Sincerely
Apologies for the incorrect fares, thanks for the correction WengenK! Too used to accounting for SBB inside Switzerland that I wasn’t paying attention.
hey hey jchurch
since you have booked already, you should really delete post in the france forum or reply that you booked something
keep address of accomodation with you, i'm assuming you will take taxi from train station to your place.
