Hello. We plan to spend two nights in late April in Luzern before a river cruise. Any hotel recommendations?

We just stayed at Ameron Flora and like it, close to train station and Chapel bridge.

Many here, including me, like the hotel des alpes. The only negative is no a/c, but that's not a concern in April.

One advantage to Hotel des Alpes is that it is right across the bridge from the main rail station. Walking distance even with bags.

My wife and I recently stayed at Hotel Alpha, about a 10-minute walk straight down Pilatusstrasse from the train station. Clean, comfortable, nice little balconies, friendly English-speaking staff, and breakfast included in the room rate. Beyond that, no frills. Around 170CHF ($200)/night, if I recall; might be cheaper in April (which is kind of between seasons). If your cruise leaves from Pier 1, it's around a 15 minute walk from the hotel. If it's Pier 7, that's across the bridge so add 5 minutes.

I believe the OP is referring to a Rhine cruise out of Basel, not a cruise out of Luzern, so which Pier is which is immaterial. Of course, they may want to do a lake day-cruise while in Luzern.
