Pontresina to Florence

We have reservations for one night in Pontresina Sept 20th (best place to stay per Rick for the Bernia Express)) and will be traveling on to Florence on Sept. 21th. What is the best way to get to Florence?

Any help is appreciated.

Continue south on the Bernina express route ( but not necessarily a BE train; regional train is fine) to Tirano. Change there for a train to Milano Centrale, where you can catch a Frecce train to Florence. Check the schedules on Trenitalia as bahn.de does not show the Tirano to Milan train. This is a regional train so no benefit to booking in advance. But you can get an excellent price on the fast train from Milano Centrale to Florence by booking well in advance.
