Pontresina on a Sunday early October.

We'll be arriving late afternoon by train from Zurich. I understand shops will be closed. Will the restaurants be open? Any place to get a snack before dinner? (We've been places where absolutely everything closed Sunday evening!) Thanks.

Emma,
My husband and I just returned from Switzerland and spent 2 nights in Pontresina. We ate dinners at Ristorante Pizzeria Nostra and Colani Stubli (in Hotel Steinbock). Both are open on Sundays. It is commonplace for Swiss restaurants to begin dinner service at 6 pm. We loved our meals at both restaurants. I tried the regional Capun dish at Colani Stubli and it was delicious. The Co-op is the only grocery store I know of and it is closed on Sunday, but there are places along the main road, Via Maistra where you could have a beverage and appetizer in the late afternoon. We stayed in an Airbnb that I would highly recommend. Daniela's flat had mountain views from every window, self serve breakfast, laundry service available, etc. and half the price of the hotels. Also convenient location. We loved Pontresina.

Thanks for the reply-I am happy to know I don't need to worry. We will only have one night in Pontresina so we will stay in a hotel. This trip is mostly to see Italy, but I decided we could add a little bit of Switzerland on the way.
