I will be traveling to Switzerland this summer. Are there any pocket WiFi options available that you can recommend?
You can buy a standard hotspot on Amazon or where ever and then just buy a local sim card.
Yes, you can use iSpot Connect. Unlimited data and easy to use.

We have a sapphire travelwifi device.
We wanted to buy a a SIM card but had difficulty finding one at Zurich airport
Only one shop was willing to sell one for $70.
We ended up giving up on the device and bought two eSIMs for the two of us . It cost about $60 for two
There is a trvelwifi at Zurich airport. But their website did not show one available with unlimited data . You do need unlimited data if you want to connect your phone over WiFi on airplane mode and use WiFi calling
What do you envision the utility of a hotspot being for you?
Having one makes sense if your cell phone doesn't support dual SIM's. You
would be buying a local SIM card in any case, but if you can plug the second
SIM into your phone, then you have the same functionality and one less thing
to carry around. You also have choices for how to handle voice and SMS, not
just data.
There are articles in the Technology forum and other places that explain in
more detail.
it feels like about 5 years ago these gadgets fell out of favor since everyone and their pet hamster has a cellphone these days
Hi gubt, sometimes it is cheaper to rent a mobile wifi unit with unlimited data than having your own unit and buying a local sim card.
