I don't know anything about your interests, but here is what I would do with that time if I were planning my first visit.

Lauterbrunnen for 4 nights. The town is situated in the middle of a valley between the Schilthorn and Jungfrau. Astonishing scenery and lots to do.

Luzern for 2 nights. Cute town, good food, fun lake to cruise in, and access to Mt. Rigi and Mt. Titlis.

Pick up Rick Steves' Switzerland guidebook for details.

We took a Switzerland/Italy trip two years ago. We landed in Zurich late morning and took the trains immediately to stay in Wengen for 4 days. Our trip was in September, and the weather was cold/brisk the first two days and then perfect. (Hiked each day in the mountains and around Wengen.) We took the excellent train system to Stresa, Italy - stayed two days and absolutely loved that town. We stopped at Spiez for a nice lunch break to switch trains when traveling to Stresa. Stresa was the perfect scenery transition from the mountains to a gorgeous lake town with Isola Bella & Pescatori on to Italian culture in Florence, Siena, Grosseto, and ending with 5 days in Rome.
